Big Muddy Rivers Chesapeake Bay Retrievers

We have owned Chesapeake Bay Retrievers for the last fifteen years.  I got my first Chesapeake because my past Labrador Retrievers were just not tough enough to withstand the cold, icy waters of the Missouri River while duck hunting.  Chesapeakes are  the perfect breed  for my hunting style and I can’t imagine  hunting with any other breed but a Chesapeake Bay Retriever.

Big Muddy Rivers Chesapeake Bay Retrievers are located 30 miles east of Kansas City, Missouri. Our breeding program started in 2012.  We take our breeding program very seriously and strive to breed the best quality Chesapeakes born with that natural hunting instinct.  Our breeding has produced handsome all around pups with fantastic temperaments that make wonderful family companions, excellent watchdogs and phenomenal  “retrieving machine” hunting dogs.20121117_072449

Chesapeakes have an affectionate, protective nature and become very attached to their owners, so proper puppy socializing at a young age is very important to guarantee that the puppy grows up to be an adult Chesapeake with a good, healthy attitude.

The Chesapeake Bay Retriever is valued for its bright and happy disposition, high intelligence, extreme loyalty, eagerness to learn, willingness to work, and their affectionate, protective nature.  The Chesapeake is highly respected as a powerful hunter, able to hunt under the most adverse weather and water conditions with ease, efficiency and endurance.

Our amazing experiences of proudly owning Chesapeakes for the last fifteen years led us to ask ourselves this particular question, “Why didn’t we own Chesapeakes sooner?”  Once you have owned a Chesapeake, chances are you will never own any other breed of dog but a Chesapeake Bay Retriever.20121117_074954 - Copy

Do you have any puppies for sale now?

    • I am sorry I have not responded, my system has been down. I do not have any puppies at this time. However we should have a litter by the end of September, they will be ready in six to seven weeks after they are born. I plan to have another litter in December. I am very proud of the puppies we have raised in the past. They have become excellent hunters and excellent family companions. If you have any questions about any of these litters please feel free to call me at 816-616-9343. Thank you, Mike Day.
